What information is included on a K1 statement?

Schedule K-1 is an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax form that's issued annually. It reports the gains, losses, interest, dividends, earnings, and other distributions from certain investments or business entities for the previous tax year.

Is a K1 the same as a 1099?

W hile a K-1 and a 1099 both involve self-employment income, they are different. A 1099 form reflects income paid by other businesses to a contractor, vendor or freelancer, while a K-1 reflects income for a partner from a business that they co-own.

Where do I report K1 distributions?

You must report all dividend income on the 1041, and you report the share of dividend income for each beneficiary on Schedule K-1s. You must furnish a copy of each K-1 to the appropriate beneficiary, and attach all copies to Form 1041 when you file the return with the Internal Revenue Service.
